Asif, Amir in match-fixing allegations

pakistan’s fast bowlers, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif have been involved in match-fixing according to a tabloid in UK. It was reported by a tabloid that the two had been involved in a smaller, but equally criminal sub-plot that went by the name of spot-fixing in the fourth and the final Test match of the series between England and Pakistan.

The tabloid conducted a sting operation in which it is said to have paid a Mazhar Majeed on behalf of the players to get them to bowl no-balls in the fourth Test match. Majeed said that the bowlers will send down the first ball of the 3rd over and the last ball of the 10th over as no-balls. In the fourth Test match, that is how it panned out. Amir bowled a huge no-ball, which was followed by Asif bowling another no-ball in the tenth over.
The Scotland yard has now involved itself in the issue and has already questioned the Pakistani cricketers. They had arrested Majeed, but he is now out on bail. However, he will have to report to the Scotland Yard whenever they need him to.
It is now been said that the Sydney Test match between Australia and Pakistan earlier this year was also fixed. The Aussies had gone on to win the game, but it shown in the same video that Majeed boasted to the reporter that he had almost earned a million pounds out of the transactions.
The Pakistani government has taken a strong exception to the happenings and said that they will take strong action against those found guilty. The ICC has also added that they will decide on what they need to do once the Scotland Yard brings out its report.
There is also a cloud over the future of the tour, which also has five ODIs and two T20Is yet to be played. The PCB has said that the tour will go on as scheduled, but the decision has to be taken by the ECB and ICC.
